Do You Shower Facing The Shower Head?

Do you shower facing the shower head? Yes, I face the shower head when needed, but not all the time. Or you can say I keep changing my direction each and every minute.

Sometimes I even take my entire shower by just facing in one direction, i.e. away from the nozzle. I do that when I just want a short splash over my body. And sometimes I focus on my hair more while showering. This makes me face the shower head for the whole time.

Today, I am going to share my thoughts on showering, my directions, and so on.

Without making any delay let’s get into it.

Do You Shower Facing The Shower Head

There is no scientific reason why people shower facing the shower head or away from the shower head. It depends on personal preference and convenience.

For example, while cleaning our face we face towards the shower head. On the other hand, while cleaning our bodies, we face away from the shower head. You must have understood that the application of anything depends on the posture of the body during the shower along with personal preference.

Here, I have shared some of my regular experiences that I do while showering.

Facing The Shower Head While Shampoo

If I share my thoughts, I would say facing away from the shower head is a good idea. But sometimes it is important as well to face towards the nozzle.

For instance, when I shampoo my hair, I face towards the shower head. While doing shampoo, it can easily get into your eyes which is unbearable. After applying the shampoo, I face towards the nozzle so that my eyes get clear first and the hair hereby.

Facing The Shower Head To Clean Face

As said already, facing the shower head while showering means getting a splash on the face at first. So when I apply face wash or anything on my face, I usually face the nozzle to get my face cleaned first. This gives a nice face shower.

Facing The Shower Head While Brushing Teeth

When I am in a rush for work and I need to get a shower immediately, I apply this technique. That is, brushing under the shower head while showering. Maybe all of us agree with it. This saves a lot of time by having a shower in the body and brushing the teeth, two things at a time. However, while brushing my teeth, I also face the nozzle to get more water to clean my mouth.

Facing Away From The Shower Head While Applying Soap

Now comes those circumstances which make me face away from the shower head. The most common one would be by applying soap or body wash to the body. If you face away from the nozzle, you can find it easier to apply soap or body wash thoroughly over your whole body. Alongside, the even distribution of water cleans the soap on our body smoothly.

Facing Away From The Shower Head While Applying Conditioner

Like I said before, while doing shampoo I face towards the shower head. But when I condition my hair, I face away from the nozzle. Do you know why? Because the condition is applicable to the lengths of the hair. So there is no chance of having a mess of conditioner on our eyes.

Also, it is not as harsh as shampoo, so it won’t make our eyes feel uncomfortable either. It means there is no need to face the shower head while washing the conditioner from our hair. That’s why, I prefer facing away from the shower at such times.

Facing Away To Avoid Direct Splash Of Water

During the winter season, the water is very cold. Most of our time passes in the bathroom adjusting to the cold water. And of course, there is no saying that we will face the shower head to get the direct splash of cold water. For this reason, I face away from the nozzle so as not to get the direct stream of cold water.

Facing All Sides

We all human beings don’t like to stay in one posture for a long time, especially when we are showering. Even though I don’t find any purpose, I keep changing my position every minute. It is only because of the convenience.

Doesn’t matter if I am applying shampoo, conditioner, or face wash, I keep changing my position constantly. One time to the south, another time to the north, one time west, another time to the east. And yes, it includes facing the shower and away from the shower head as well.

Research says that 45% of people like to rotate in the shower. For example, one time to the shower head, another time away from the shower head. Again, 44% of people like to shower facing away from the shower head, and 12% of people like to face towards the shower head.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the use of a shower head?

A shower head is also known as a nozzle meant for distributing water evenly. Its work is to spray water from a solid focal point that is placed overhead. A shower head does not provide a full immersion, but less water with even distribution.

Which direction should you shower?

The direction that gives you utmost comfort, is the best direction to face. However, facing away from the water is advantageous while showering.

How do shower heads save water?

We know that a shower head does not stream water as a tap does. If you keep a shower head and tape on for one minute, the tape will fill more water. Since shower heads distribute less water by regulating the flow, it helps in saving water.

Final Thoughts

So far, our demanding question was, do you shower facing the shower head? Hopefully, you have now got your answer. I face towards the shower head and also away from the shower. It all depends on what I am doing in the bathroom.

Anyways, I belong to that 45% of the population who like to rotate under the shower. And it is rarely evident that I face either to the shower head or away from the shower head during the entire time of having a bath.
